Abstract (EN)

Title: Evaluation of the Effect of Stress Coping Skills Training Programme Based on Cognitive Behavioural Approach with Telenursing on Stress Perception, Psychological Resilience and Compassion Fatigue in Palliative Care Nurses Aim: The aim of the study was to determine the effect of a stress coping skills training programme based on cognitive behavioural approach on stress perception, psychological resilience and compassion fatigue of palliative care nurses via tele-nursing. Method: The study was conducted in a single-blind, randomised controlled experimental design with a 90-day follow-up period. The study was conducted with 42 palliative care nurses (21 intervention and 21 control) working in palliative care clinics in two hospitals in Eskişehir province. Stress coping skills training programme was applied to the intervention group and five assignments were given. The control group was referred to the Mental Health Support System (MHSS) application. Data were collected as pre-test and post-test. Data were collected with personal data form, Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Stress Coping Scale (SCS), Psychological Resilience Scale (PSS) and Compassion Fatigue scale. The research protocol was registered in the ClinicalTrials.gov database with the code NCT05830448. Results: In the intervention group, it was found that the post-test scores of the ASQ decreased significantly compared to the pre-test, difference analysis and group*time analyses (p<0.05). In the intervention group, there was a significant increase in the post-test scores of the SBSQ compared to the pre-test and difference analyses (p<0.05). However, no significance was found in group*time analyses (p>0.05). A significant increase was observed in the post-test score in the intervention group in the PSS within and between groups (p<0.05). It was found that the intervention did not affect compassion fatigue (p>0.05). Conclusions: Stress coping skills training based on cognitive behavioural approach was determined as a programme to reduce stress perception and increase stress coping skills and psychological resilience in palliative care nurses.
