Investigation of energy absorption of reinforced concrete sandwich panels under contract explosion

Terrorist attacks, one of the most important threats to humanity in the world, have increased the destruction they have caused on people with technology. In order to minimize the devastating effects of this destruction, it is extremely important that different disciplines come together, reach a synthesis on the approaches proposed for the solution of the problem, and work out with this knowledge. An examination of the phases and changes that terrorist activities have undergone, both in the world and in our country, reveals that explosives are the most important factor determining the resulting destruction. Therefore, damping or evacuation of explosions caused by explosive materials is possible by analyzing and examining these explosive materials well. In this thesis, it is aimed to evacuate the energy released as a result of the explosion event through the channels left in the reinforced concrete slabs. By performing a series of experiments on reinforced concrete sandwich slabs with different geometric designs, the limit values that can evacuate without damaging the core (inner wall) of the slabs were determined, and the optimum reinforced concrete sandwich slab sample was determined under contact explosion. In addition, the results of the experiment were graphed and a function curve was obtained and a 2nd degree function equation was obtained. These studies carried out within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 1001 Project numbered 219M392 have shown that some of the explosion energy can be discharged through the channels left in the reinforced concrete slabs.
