The financing of terrorism and the impact of financing and supporting terrorist organizations on international relations

Financing is vitally important for terrorist organizations, which significantly affect states and states relations at the international level and are a strong component in determining the strategic goals of states along with global politics. It is almost impossible for terrorist organizations that need financing to continue their activities to maintain their existence if they cannot provide a regular flow of funds and they are forced to disband. For this reason, terrorist organizations resort to various ways to obtain financing and want to evaluate new opportunities created together with traditional methods in order to meet their constantly growing funding needs. States support terrorism and terrorist organizations for different reasons. Terrorist organizations that receive the support of states provide significant advantages in realizing their strategies and can cause significant damage to the target country. The support given by the states to terrorist organizations can lead to serious tensions and problems between the supporting country and the injured country. In the study, the in-depth document analysis technique was used by using the documentary observation method. Theses, articles, books, reports, Internet resources and other related resources found in the literature were scanned and used in the construction of the study. In the first part of the study, the concepts of terrorism and terrorism will be explained and the lack of a agreed-upon definition will be emphasized. The causes, objectives, types and elements of terrorism will be examined by going into detail of the concept of terrorism. In the second part, the legal and legal-looking resources used by terrorist organizations to obtain funds along with the reasons for their financing needs will be explained in detail, including concrete examples. In the last part, which also constitutes the main problem of the study, the reasons why states support terrorist organizations, the evaluation of the support provided from the point of view of international law and how they support, after it is revealed, the examples will focus on the result of their support, especially the financing provided by states to terrorist organizations, reflected in international relations.
