Abstract (EN)

The study was conducted as a three-armed randomized controlled experimental study to evaluate the effect of holistic nurse coaching given to individuals with Type 2 Diabetes on glycemic control, diabetes self-management, and empowerment. The research findings determined that there was a statistically significant difference in the total and sub-dimensions of self-management on the road to type 2 diabetes, and diabetes empowerment scale after the intervention in the holistic nurse coaching and diabetes education groups, being more significant in the coaching group (p<0.05). After the holistic nurse coaching intervention, it was determined that individuals with diabetes showed a statistically significant difference in adherence to treatment, adherence to diet, ability to manage diabetes, measuring blood sugar, going to the hospital, physical activity, averages of the last three fasting and postprandial blood glucose, HbA1c and weight values (p<0.05). It was determined that the diabetes empowerment scale total scores explained approximately 68.5% of the change in the total diabetes self-management scale scores of individuals with diabetes. As a result, it is seen that holistic nurse coaching contributes to the increase in diabetes self-management and empowerment. For this reason, it is recommended to organize in-service trainings on holistic nurse coaching and to add relevant trainings to nursing practices for nurses who want to advance in this field.
