Abstract (EN)

Ill ABSTRACT PhD Thesis AN INVESTIGATION OF THE INFLUENCE OF THIOSEMICARBAZONE DERIVATIVE SCHIFF BASE AND ITS METAL COMPLEXES ON THE ANTIOXIDANTS AND AMINO ACIDS LEVELS OF RATS Mustafa KARATEPE Fırat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciencies. Department of Chemistry 2002, Page: 67 In this study, the effect of thiosemicarbazone derivative thiazoie ring Schiff base and its Cu(II). Zn(II) metal complexes on the erythrocyte antioxidant enzyme GSH-Px activity and serum MDA concentration which is an indicator of lipid peroxidation, serum antioxidant vitamins A. E. C levels, free amino acids valin, methionin. tryptophan and isoleucine concentrations in serum of rats which is injected subcutaneously were investigated. In the comparision done among groups, it was observed that erythrocyte GSH- Px activity, serum MDA. vitamins A, E and amino acids methionin. tryptophan and isoleucine (p < 0.0166) concentrations were statistically changed, but the serum levels of selenium, vitamin C and valin were not changed. In conclusion, the parameters measured here in show that Cu(L)2 caused a considerable oxidative stress and Zn(L)2 behavied as an antioxidant, no any oxidative stress in ligand was observed compared to control group, but all compounds have effected the free amino acid levels studied, except valin, on the serum. Key Words : Thiosemicarbazone, Rat. Antioxidant Vitamins (A, E. C). Amino Acid. Selenium. GSH-Px, MDA, HPLC
