ABSTRACT M.Sc. Thesis DETERMINING OF THE RAINFALL AND SEDIMENT RELATIONSHIPS IN THE TOPÇU SUB-WATERSHED AND RESEARCHING OF THE APPLICATION POSIBILITIES OF THE SIMILAR WATERSHEDS Kadir KUŞVURAN UNIVERSTY OF ÇUKUROVA INSTITUTE OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL STRUCTURES AND IRRIGATION Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Kazım TÜLÜCÜ Year: 2001, Page: 57 Jury Prof. Dr. Kazım TÜLÜCÜ Associate Prof.Dr. Mahmut ÇETİN Asst.Prof.Dr. İsmail ÇELİK The purpose of this research is to measure sediment directly and evaluate to find relations of rainfall-sediment, to compare results with USLE for deciding application possibilities in farming conditions for similar watershed which have no gauge station. For this purpose, sediment that resulting from rainfall for the water year of 2000 was measured and evaluated by H flume in outlet of Topcu sub-watershed in Tarsus. In this study, following relations were found between sediment and flow (S = 0.0007. Q1'7923 ), sediment and erosive-indice (S = 0.0061. RU609 ). Parameters used in USLE equation were determined for study area. Sediment was predicted by using USLE equation. Measured and predicted sediment values were compared. Results showed that there are notably difference between predicted values and measured values. Key words: Rainfall, Sediment, Watershed, Topçu Creek II
