Abstract (EN)

Teaching profession and white collar workers are the professions in which human relations are intensively experienced. Job engagement and burnout cases are frequently seen in occupational groups where human relations are intensively experienced. In this study, the relationship between job engegament and burnout were assessed between these two occupational groups. Questionnaires were used as a data collection tool and the questionnaires obtained from a total of 720 people consisting of 408 white collar workers and 312 teacher within the province of Istanbul were analyzed. To this end, the levels of job engagement and burnout for the two professions have been tested separately. One-dimensional Copenhagen Burnout Scale for Burnout was used to measure these variables, and three-dimensional Job engagement scale developed by Rich et al. The validity and reliability analyzes of the scales were performed; both scales of validity and reliability were high. Sufficient level of reliability and validity of the scales was obtained and the relationship between the cases was statistically tested. As a result of the analysis, there was a statistically significant negative correlation between the burnout and the three subscales of job engagement in white collar workers, while there was no statistically significant relationship between burnout and job engagement subscales in the teachers.
