Abstract (EN)
While the most comprehensive information including the Greek Colonization is provided by Western Mediterranean and the Black Sea settlements generally, it is observed that there is consensus among references of Ancient writers and archaeological evidence. However, when looking at the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean, possible colonization activities weren't investigated sufficiently and also that status of Greek presence and colonial activities in several settlements are quite controversial and only a few settlements had been identified and studied accurately until now. In this study, from end of the Late Bronze Age to Classical Age in Eastern Mediterranean, Greek origin finds were examined by considering the elements of architecture, burial customs, pottery, inscriptions via forty settlements in Cilicia, Cyprus, Northern Syria and Canaan. Greek colonization phenomenon in the Eastern Mediterranean is explained by considering Mainland Greece, Ionian and Aegean islands and the colonial finds of Greek settlements in West Mediterranean, and Black Sea, and possible Greek colonial activities are identified and assessed.
