Competitiveness in the tourism sector: Application on Alanya accommodation establishments

Investigating the international competitiveness of the Turkish tourism industry and determining the factors and variables affecting the competitiveness is an important issue. When we look at the studies in the literature; It has been observed that the few studies on measuring the international competitiveness of the Turkish tourism sector have been conducted generally on many tourism stakeholder groups in the sector and throughout Turkey. In this study, the international competitiveness of Turkish tourism was examined from the perspective of the officials of the accommodation facilities in Alanya. According to the records of Alanya Touristic Operators Association (ALTİD) and Antalya Provincial Culture and Tourism Directorate; The number of accommodation facilities with ministry certification in Alanya is 274. The number of participants who participated in the survey voluntarily and filled out the survey suitable for analysis is 238 people. Validity-reliability analyzes were applied to the data obtained as a result of the survey, the research model was determined and the hypotheses to be tested in the research model were decided. Exploratory factor analysis was also conducted on the survey data. As a result of the literature review conducted within the scope of the research; It is thought that the independent variables of human resources and labor market, business environment, policies-information and communication, safety and health, natural and cultural resources, infrastructure and superstructure, image, environmental sustainability may have an impact on the dependent variable of competitiveness. As a result of the regression analysis of the survey data; It only affects the competitiveness of Turkish tourism; It has been observed that human resources and labor market, business environment, natural and cultural resources and image factors are effective.
