Library the Turkish press: An analyze of content for library news appear place between the years of 2014-2023 on the Milliyet newspaper

This study aims to submit a detailed assessment by the means of content analyze of the library news that were pressed on the Milliyet Newspaper between the years of 2014-2023, over the representation of the libraries on the Turkish press. While the libraries have social importance with their critical roles like providing information attainment, making observation, providing work environment and hosting to social activities; newspapers have an important role on taking this information to public opinion. In this case, the library news on the newspapers may be effectice on shoping the public perception of the libraries. This study intends to understand the place of the libraries on the Milliyet Newspaper by researching the libraries visibility and the representation on press. The basic question of the research is "How was the representation of library news in Milliyet Newspaper examined?" In this context the topic like pressing frequency of library new, representation in newspaper categories, seperation according to library kinds, content themes, new sources, roles of the writers and the tones of the news are processed in a detailed way. In the research that was used content analyze method, data analyza was done with MAXQDA 2020 software and totally 799 news were scrutinized. Findings partially approve the basic hypothesis of the study and they show that the library news are generally related with the subjects like general culture, art and agenda and the tones of the news are mostly positive. While the representation of the library news that are pressed on the Milliyet Newspaper emphasizes the public role of the libraries, it reflects the importance of these places. As a result, it is seen that the library news are submitted with a positive image on the Turkish press and are affected from various factors. Library managers can strengthen their relations with the press by using these results and con emphasize importance of the libraries in the public opinion effectively
