Abstract (EN)

Türkiye transitioned to multi-party life in order to adapt to the changing world order after the Second World War. During this transition process, CHP Chairman İsmet İnönü was the one who supported the situation the most. Over time, different views and thoughts have emerged within the CHP. Since some of the laws discussed in the parliament were not accepted by people who adopted these different views, an opposition movement began to form within the party. With this opposition movement, members of the party soon left the CHP and founded the Democrat Party in 1946. The party became politically stronger over time and came to power in the elections held in 1950. After coming to power, they did successful work in many areas, and the people were very pleased with this situation; But over time, confusion arose within the party. During the turmoil, groups with different views emerged within the Democratic Party, and over time, these groups left the Democratic Party and founded new parties. The Peasant Party of Türkiye is one of the groups that left the Democratic Party in such a process. The Peasant Party of Türkiye was founded in 1952 and took part in the political scene until 1958. Since the aim of the party is to keep the idea of villages and peasantism widespread and at the forefront among the people, it has worked diligently to make the voice of the peasantry heard. The party advocated that organization should start from the villages, not from the center, and they carried out studies in this direction; But they could not find any positive support from the peasantry as they expected. Since he could not find support, he negotiated cooperation with other opposition parties against the Democratic Party in order to enter the elections to be held in 1954; However, as a result of the negotiations, no merger was achieved. In 1958, the party decided to merge with the Republican Nation Party as it realized that it could not exist in the political arena alone. The negotiations resulted positively and the Peasant Party of Turkey and the Republican Nation Party merged and continued their political activities strongly under the name of CKMP (Republican Peasant Nation Party).
