An enquiry on turkish language periodical (1965-1970)

The periodical called Turkish Language has played an effective part in the array of literature and culture. This Turkish Language, which opened a way of new understandings, is among the periodicals tracing our postrepublic literature until present time. Between 1965-1970 in Turkish Language Periodical, which has included our distinguished writers and poets in its issues, individuals such as Ağah Sırrı Levend, Ömer Asım Aksoy, Muzaffer Uyguner, Cahit Öztelli, Fahrettin Kırzıoğlu, Mehmet Salihoğlu, Emin Özdemir, Oktay Akbal, Gündüz Akıncı, Selahattin Batu, Haydar Ediskun, Enver Naci Gökşen, and Turgut Özakman provided writings. Polemics taking part in the Turkish Language Periodical within the period between 1965 and 1970 provide invaluable information about the literal and ideological view of the period. Most important topics discussed by the literal figures of the period are movement of original Turkish and Institution of Turkish Language. It can be seen that two different perceptions were generated in terms of purification of Turkish Language: ones advocating for the eradication of the foreign vocabulary used in the common language and replacing them with the derivations of the Turkish roots, and the ones accepting the origin movement but advocating that the foreign vocabulary should be kept within the language. Within the periodical Turkish Language majority of Turkish poet of the period were included. In addition, innumerable Turkish and foreign drama and short play were published in the periodical. Special issues of the periodical focusing on the drama and cinema accommodated the inadequateness of the periodical in these fields. A great many works of Turkish and foreign origin were included in the periodical. In this study, which focused on the literal activities between the years of 1965 and 1970, we observed that topics concerning ?language? have a priority. The transforming vision of the understanding concerning language together with the language revolution can be observed in the Periodical Turkish Language. In addition the origin movement and the propounded new vocabulary range were included in the periodical. With this study we tried to reveal the reflections of the Turkish Language Periodical, which adopted Language Revolution ? one of the most important cultural revolutions ? and produced new works with this understanding. Our aim is to collect as many documents and information as possible and provide them to the disposal of the other researchers.
