The function and exercising examples of the Freight forwarders in sea freight transportation in logistics sector of Turkey

The concept of logistics means to deliver the material in time required, to the location required with reasonable prices in a safest way. Exactly at this point, the enterprises shall plan and organize their transport operations for reasons such as to provide a competitive advantage, to focus on core businesses and to reduce the cost, therefore there is a need for professional logistics service providers who will ensure that materials are being safely transported. These companies stand out today as Freight Forwarders (Transport Works Agents). This study consists of four parts. In the first past was shown the logistics sector in Turkey. İt is importance, strengths and weaknesses, in the second part the maritime transport, in Turkey, it is advantages and disadvantages, the types of containers and transport units, in the third part the place of the freight forwarding companies in the maritime transport, in the fourth part the function of the freight forwarding companies in maritime import and export shipments and examples documents have been presented and have been explained by application and case studies.
