Youth movements and inclusive governance in Turkish politics: The case of Ak gençli̇k

This study comprehensively examines youth movements in Turkey and the role of young people in political life. The historical processes of youth political participation and the social, cultural, and economic factors influencing these processes are analyzed in detail. By comparing youth movements in Europe and America, the unique aspects of Turkish youth movements are highlighted. Additionally, the study provides an in-depth analysis of the structure and functioning of youth organizations within political parties in Turkey. Special attention is given to AK Gençlik, the youth wing of the AK Party, focusing on its organizational structure, ideological stance, contributions to political participation, and inclusive governance approach. In this context, the role of AK Gençlik in election processes, its social projects, and its broader societal impact are evaluated. The study emphasizes the importance of expanding education, increasing political awareness, strengthening collaboration with civil society organizations, and actively involving young people in democratic processes to enhance youth political participation in Turkey. Ultimately, it is concluded that the inclusion of youth in decision-making mechanisms is crucial for democratic governance.
