Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of the research is to analyze the economic, environmental and social sustainability of Turkish salmon farming located in the Samsun - Sinop region. Research data were determined by looking at the ports and farming areas used by Turkish Salmon aquacultural facilities in the 2022-2023 farming period. Head offices in Samsun Yakakent were formed through a survey with 17 aquacultural facilities with 38 projects out of 23 Turkish salmon/Turkish Salmon parr facilities. Besides, data from Samsun and Sinop Directorate of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Turkish Statistical Institute, Samsun and Sinop Provinces Aquaculture Producers Association and Eastern Blacksea Exporters Association were used. Turkish salmon farmers, whose research results were examined, are actively using 84% of their capacity and 89% are working at full capacity in 2022 in the Samsun - Sinop region. When the efficiency measurements of the growers are examined, it has been determined that if they reduce the production cost by 29% and reduce their inputs by 21%, they can achieve the same production amount and 78.9% of the enterprises need to grow in order to evaluate their performance well. Since the data regarding the carbon emission calculation of Turkish salmon farmers in the Samsun - Sinop region is not sufficient, carbon emission data for the region could not be calculated. For sustainability, it is necessary to conduct a study focusing only on sustainability with surveys prepared with detailed questions.
