Abstract (EN)
Orientalist works have rebuilt and recreated the East by transferring texts, paintings, movies, media and by virtue of social media tools from the past until today. Cultural media products which can shape our vision of the world, change the perception of the audience and affect the thought and decision thereof have led to the creation of the issue of East fiction founded by Orientalism which has brought about the perception of "us" and "others". Approach of Eastern societies to information as to themselves with the Western view leads to self-orientalism, and products created through Eastern individuals who are alienated to their society are shaped in the orientalist western information. This research hereby will evaluate the recreation of historical events and historical figures within the context of self-orientalism and try to determine how orientalist discourse is reflected in the Turkish television series. In this context, history of Ottoman history will be revealed by virtue of the "Magnificent Century" serial case which has taken the orientalist interpretation of history as well as the subject and fiction thereof from history while orientalist fictions will be evaluated through specific themes such as space, design, clothing, harem life and ways of behaviour. The research will be carried out by virtue of qualitative techniques. A theoretical and conceptual background of the research will be created thanks to literature studies while document review will be applied as the research technique and the information obtained will be discussed.
