Perceptions of the instructors working in turkish language education centers toward the ethical climate in their institutions

The aim of this study is to determine the perceptions of instructors working in TÖMERs about the ethical climate in their institutions and the variables such as gender, age, title, length of service, and educational background that affect these perceptions. 230 participants from 67 different TÖMER hass participated in the study, conducted among the lecturers working in TÖMER's across Turkey. In this study, survey method was used under the title of descriptive model, which is one of the quantitative research models. The data of the study were collected face-to-face and online with the Organizational Ethical Climate Scale. The collected data were organized and analyzed with SPSS 26 program. The findings were interpreted and by thşs way the conclusions of this study were reached. According to the findings, the perception levels of the instructors working in TÖMER's towards the ethical climate in their institutions, are quite high (X̄=4.0070). However, there is no significant difference in their perceptions of ethical climate according to gender, age, length of service in the profession, length of service in their institutions, title and number of students in the institution. It was determined that the ethical climate perceptions of the instructors working in TÖMERs differed according to the institution they work in and their duties in the institution. Accordingly, among the lecturers working at TÖMERs, those working at state universities perceive the productive ethical climate type more than those working at foundation universities. This situation shows that the lecturers working at state universities see the shortest way to their goals as the most efficient way and use the available resources in the most efficient way. It can be said that the fact that the resources are richer in foundation universities causes the efficiency perception of the academic staff working in foundation universities to be lower. In addition, lecturers without administrative duties perceive the manipulative benevolent climate type more than those with administrative duties. This situation shows that academic staff with administrative duties performs tasks that are not within their duties and responsibilities in the institution without considering personal interest. Commitment to administrative duties and responsibilities and ethical behavior norms may be related to this difference. Ethical climate training programs can be organized and the importance of ethical climate can be emphasized at every opportunity in order to maintain and increase this situation of the perceptions of the academic staff towards the ethical climate in their institutions. In the overall study, it was observed that the perception of self-interested benevolent climate was low; in order to improve this situation, programs and activities should be organized to increase solidarity and cooperation within the institution. These activities will ensure that the common interests of the organization come to the fore.
