Aspect in Turkish: Example of Figen Şakacı's Kesekli Tarla

Appearance, which has been the focus of attention since Aristotle, first mentioned with the term vid in the sources in the 17th century, and which was handled separately for the first time in the 1970s, is a grammatical category that shows the time of occurrence of an event from the point of now. The suffixes which are called tense suffixes in aspect verb conjugation show the perfective and imperfective states of the verb. Appearance is the speaker's or the listener's giving a new meaning to the action. In this respect, appearance is a subjective category. Appearance, a semantic category, is often confused with the categories of tense and rendering. Although appearance has a connection with these concepts, it is a separate category on its own. In this study, in order to better understand and distinguish the aspect category, the categories of tense, modality - modality and rendering, which are related to this category, are also discussed. Time is the actual time of the verb; how the aspect extends into the verb; the mood under which psychological conditions the verb takes place; The verb shows the internal semantic structure of the verb. In this study, the verbs in Figen Şakacı's story book Kesekli Tarla were examined in terms of appearance. During the review, Comrie's appearance classification was taken as a basis. In this classification, perfective and imperfective types of verbs were taken as basis, and imperfectiveness was also examined under two headings as habit and continuation.
