Questionnaire study on the emergency service crowd living in 3RD level health services in turkey

Objective: Emergency departments are uninterrupted service units of hospitals. We have conducted a survey on possible causes and suggestions for solutions of the Emergency Service overcrowding, which has become a big problem over the world. MaterialsandMethods: A total of four sections were prepared. The first part included participants' information, the second part included hospital and emergency services. In the third and fourth chapters, probable causes and solutions were proposed respectively. The questionnaire form was createdwith "Google forms" and emailed to our 3rd level Emergency Service manager / faculty members via email. The results were evaluated using the SPSS Statistics15.0 for Windows program. Results: A total of 83 emergency service administrators / facultymembersreceived 47 (56,6%) responses. The survey results were evaluated between 17/06/2016-30/09/2016. Participants identified the attitude of the community on the use of emergency services (93.6%) as the greatest cause of the emergency department crowding. The lack of representation at the Ministry of Health level was also found to be the most important factor (93,6%). In the solution proposals; establishment of remote treatment units for outpatient clinics (93,6%), patients waiting for hospitalization are followed up at related services (93,6%) and correction of personal rights (93,6%). Conclusion: According to the results obtained from the study, we think that public education, improvement of non-emergency factors, regulation of employees' personal rights will be helpful in decreasing the emergency service crowd. We think that hospital management, general secretariat, ministerial policies should be produced in the solution of this problem. Although our findings are largely consistent with the literature, the lack of participation precludes further interpretation. KeyWords: Emergency Department, Overcrowding
