Education indicators regarding the regions of turkey and socioeconomic development relation

In this paper, the relation of education and socioeconomic development, the effects of education to socioeconomic development and the effects of socioeconomic development to education take place. In the study, the conditions of the regions and the provinces are evaluated in aspect of the relation of education and socioeconomic development, by examining the educational and socioeconomic data attained from State Planning Organization and Turkish Statistical Institute, regarding the regions and the provinces.The extent of the relation of socioeconomic development in the provinces with the rates of literate population, female literate population, population that graduates from the university, school foundation across the provinces is examined.It is determined that the education level is low in the population that works in agricultural work branches. It is seen that as the education level increases, there is a decrease in the population that works in agricultural work branches.Regarding the provinces, positive correlation is detected in the correlation made between literate population rate and the rate of population that works in industrial work branches. According to these results, the rate of literate population in population that is employed in industrial work branches shows an increase.A negative correlation is found between the rates of students that graduate from vocational high schools and the rate of the population that works in industrial work branches, though a low positive correlation was expected. This result may arise from the fact that the students that are not successful in the education system are directed to vocational high schools for gaining a profession, and that yet the most of these people are not employed in this sector. Vocational high schools should be added value and the students should be encouraged to prefer them.Keywords: Education, Development, Socioeconomic Development
