Abstract (EN)

From ancient times to the present, it has been seen that every society has special days that play a role in handing down common values to the next generations. These special days have continued their existence under names such as rituals, ceremonies, carnivals, festivals and commemorations. In the wake of the French Revolution, the concept of national holiday has emerged with the influence of the nationalist movement. The idea of celebrating a national holiday in the Ottomon Empire was put forward in the Second Constitutional Period. After the war of independence was won, The Republic was proclaimed on October 29, 1923 and it was given importance to celebrate the anniversary celebrations of the Republic vividly across the country. National days have been an important source of spiritual power in remembering and reviewing the struggles we have given importance in history, the progress made, strengthening the love of homeland, the determination to progress and reviving the national feeling and excitement. The date when the Republic was proclaimed was endorsed as a national days with the law enacted in 1925 in order to cause to be loved and protect the Republic, and to hand down its achievements and values from generation to generation. Preparations started months ago in order for the 15th anniversary celebrations, which have a special importance among the anniversary celebrations of the republic, to be celebrated with enthusiasm all over the country, just like the tenth anniversary celebrations. Despite many preparations, the 15th anniversary celebrations of the Republic were not as enthusiastic, exciting and well attended as 10th anniversary celebrations because of Atatürk's disease.
