Abstract (EN)

This study aims to analyze the alignment of Management Information Systems (MIS) education programs offered by public universities in Turkey with the skills demanded by the job market. The research evaluates the skill requirements specified in job postings collected from online job advertisement platforms by comparing them with the curricula of MIS programs. This analysis, conducted through the concepts of hard and soft skills, employs topic modeling and text mining techniques to examine the skills required by the business sector in detail. Although the primary aim of universities is not solely to provide employment, this study focuses on employment. The findings of the research demonstrate the extent to which the curricula of MIS programs meet the demands of the business world and provide strategic recommendations for developing these educational programs to ensure alignment. The study emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and adaptability skills, in addition to technical knowledge, for students. The focus is on developing the necessary skill sets for MIS graduates to adapt to both current job market conditions and potential future changes. In conclusion, this thesis addresses the synchronization of MIS education with the job market and evaluates the alignment between the skill requirements specified in job postings and the curricula of MIS programs. The findings offer concrete steps for universities in Turkey to respond more effectively to job market demands. Furthermore, this study contributes to the development of innovative educational strategies aimed at training competitive graduates on both national and global scales, providing practical solutions to strengthen the interaction between education and the business world.
