Evaluation of higher education institutions in Turkey in terms of data governance

Governance and management are vital concepts for the modern business world and academic institutions. While the concept of governance provides a broad framework that determines who will be involved in the effective use of resources and decision-making processes, management differs from governance by detailing how these decisions will be implemented in daily operation. However, both terms are very important, especially in the context of data management. Because today, data is considered as strategic assets of institutions and the effective management of these assets is seen as a critical factor for the success of institutions. In this context, the focus of the study is the data management and governance practices of higher education institutions in Turkey. The study, which aims to evaluate the data management strategies of higher education institutions and the effectiveness of these strategies, examines the path followed by higher education institutions, the status of data policies and studies on data management, especially in a period when the effective use of big data analytics and technological transformation processes are gaining momentum. It is thought that this study will be a very important resource in terms of understanding the effects of data management on corporate performance and revealing the difficulties faced by these institutions and will shed light on future studies on data governance. Today, data management and governance is seen as a strategic value, going beyond being just a technological necessity. For this reason, the study discussed provides information on how data management and governance strategies are implemented in higher education institutions in Turkey, allowing improvements to be made in these areas and more strategic planning to be created.
