Abstract (EN)
Dişçilik Alemi Dergisi (Dişçilik Alemi Journal) is the second periodical to be published focusing on health issues and promoting the development of the dental profession. Written by Ferit Ramiz, a dentist, in the early years of the Republic (1924-1927), the magazine's owner and representative, Ferit Ramiz, brought the magazine into being through his own efforts. Additionally, Dişçilik Alemi Dergisi published articles on both health issues and the improvement of dental schools. The journal provided information on oral health and also introduced treatment methods developed in Europe for the dental profession. It emphasized that the profession of dentistry is undervalued and that the studies conducted in this field are inadequate. It stated that the decisions taken in Europe on this matter should be implemented in Türkiye as soon as possible. Translations of numerous scientific books on dentistry published in Europe have been included in various issues of the journal. This aims to provide dentists with information to foster professional development. The journal provides information for physicians regarding the development of the dental profession and encourages readers to prioritize oral and dental health. It particularly provides information on necessary innovations in dentistry schools and publishes scientific articles on this topic. The journal also provides important information on public health. The journal's transcription, along with the topics covered and information provided by "Dentistry World," provides insights into the profession of dentistry.The aim was to reveal the stages of research conducted in Türkiye. By transcribing the Journal of the World of Dentistry, the aim was to create a study that would serve as a resource for new research on oral and dental health and the history of dentistry in Türkiye. The transcription of the issues of the Dental World Journal for the years 1923, 1924, 1925, 1926, and 1927 (issues 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 26) was used to shed light on the processes of institutionalization, scientificization, and professional identity formation within the profession of dentistry. The information obtained from the analysis of the transcribed issues of the Dental World Journal is explained in the evaluation section.
