Abstract (EN)
Arıcı T, "Evaluation of Genotypic Studies on Echinococcus granulosus in Turkey: Systematic Literature Review", Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Parasitology, Master Thesis, Van, 2024. Echinococcus granulosus is a parasite that poses significant health and economic risks. Echinococcus genotypes are defined using morphological differences and intermediate host preferences. To date, molecular studies have identified 10 genotypes and lion strains of Echinococcus granulosus. The aim of this study was to investigate Echinococcus granulosus strain diversity and incidence rates detected in animals in Turkey between 2008 and 2023. As a result of molecular analyses, it was determined that the most common E. granulosus genotype in Turkey is G1. In conclusion, comprehensive molecular epidemiological studies should be carried out throughout the country in order to control cystic echinococcus disease and to determine the sources of infection.
