The determination of efective variants in the classification of commerce banks showing activity in Turkey according to their performances and a practice experimentation

The usage of multivariate statistical analyses has been increasing rapidly over the last years. We can see that almost in all fields, from social events to economical incidents, researchers apply for more multivariate statistical analyses. When you look through to the banking sector, because the actors taking place in the banking sector whose effective and prosperous workings carry the great importance in the respective of country economies, researchers have started to use multivariate statistical analyses in this field since 1960?s. When the subject is investigated in Turkey; in our country money and capital markets did not develop in adequate level has been effecting our banks controlling the great part of these markets against the economical decisions that are taken by the governments. Almost the whole financial system in our country is under the control of the banks. The numbers of statistical studies on banks which take the great place of country financial system have been increasing also in our country as well as in the whole world day by day. In this research, commerce banks taking the place in the Turkish banking system had been taken as a universe and the financial ratios having been derived from the financial tables of the year 2005 had been used. On this research firstly cluster analysis which is a multivariate statistical technic for the purpose of grouping banks showing the similar characteristic as regarding to financial ratios. Then, in order to put down the success of classification which is occurred and to reveal variables which have the great importance in this analysis, discriminant analysis which is a multivariate statistical technic is applied to the data of cluster analysis. Our research can be dealt with as a performance assessment for the reason that the financial ratios that are used in the research have showed the performance of the various sides of the business administration at that year.
