Abstract (EN)

Motivation concept is closely related with performance and performance is one of the most important factors of success. Studies related with motivation are based on affecting the individual?s behavior in order to achieve specified objectives. Motivation factors differ for construction employees from employees working in other industries due to the special characteristics of production in construction industry. Employers have to consider motivation factors regarding the industry conditions. Thus, during this study a questionnaire survey was undertaken in order to determine the factors affecting motivation of civil engineers and architects in Turkey. 118 civil engineers and architects completed the questionnaires and the results were analyzed by using statistically through the use of mean, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, correlation coefficient. Factors affecting the motivation of employees were determined together with the ability of companies to satisfy these factors. Recommendation were then made accordingly.
