The history of women's employment in Turkey and steps taken to improve it

Women's place in work life has always been a subject in worldwide. As debates proceed, the importance of women to take place in the work life which is not used adequately for growth and development economy of countries has been highlighted in researches. Mutual result of the researchs is women who comprise half of the popularion it effects the growth and development negatively when being excluded from the laborforce. Situation is not different in our country than rest of the world. The gap between employed men and women is wide in Turkey and that means significant women population cannot contribute potential economic growth in our country. Due to these reasons that mentioned, firstly women employment has been examined widely and than recent status of women employment Turkey has been explained in this study. Subsequently, meaning, recent position and importance of women workforce has been informed. What legal studies women employment has been proceeded, which changes it has been exposed, and what rights has given to women is revealed. Finally, it has been mentioned that which project supports future of women employment or which can be applied. In this study, It is concluded that government should put a special effort on female employment to accelerate the economic growth rate in Turkey's economy.
