Highway strategies in Turkey

Thesis)Sedat ZAVARGAZİ ÜNİVERSİTESİFEN BİLİMLERİ ENSTİTÜSÜMarch 2006ABSTARCTIn this work, current situation of the highways in our countary wereinvestigated with respect to the lenght, the economy, the amount of the fundsused and the design criterias and a comprehensive comparison was madebetween the highways and the railways which is an alternative fortransportation. In this comparison, the advantages and the disadvantagesconsidering such as the construction and the operation costs were tried to beprojected. Current situation of the airways and seaways were also investigatedconsidering the devevloped countaries. The results of the work show that theexpected efficiency can not be achieved under the present design criterias of thehighways and it was tried to state that the strategic process important for thecountry can not be activated by this way.
