The comparaison of communication skills between university students studying in Turkey and Kyrgyzstan

Communication skill is one of the most important skills sought within the scope of social skills. In this context, research on university students' communication skills is important. In this study, it was aimed to determine the communication skill levels of university students studying in sister countries, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan as a comparison in terms of different variables. The variables used in the research are emotional intelligence, social intelligence, spiritual intelligence and problem solving skills. The study group of the research consists of a total of 308 undergraduate students studying at the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counselling at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University and Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University in the 2021-2022 academic year. The Turkey research group consists of 253 participants who continue their education in Turkey, while the Kyrgyzstan research group consists of 55 participants who continue their education in Kyrgyzstan. Correlational research method was used in this research. "Communication Skills Inventory", "Problem Solving Inventory", "Tromso Social Intelligence Scale", "Revised Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale" and "Mental Intelligence Traits Scale" were used in collecting the data. Descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used in the data analysis. As a result of the correlation analysis of the research, it was determined that there is a positive relationship between the communication skill levels of university students studying in Turkey and their levels of spiritual intelligence, social intelligence and emotional intelligence. At the same time, there is a negative correlation between communication skills and problem-solving skills. It has been concluded that this result obtained in the research is also valid for the students studying in Kyrgyzstan.
