Digital phytogeographical map of Turkey

"DIGITAL PHYTOGEOGRAPHICAL MAP OF TURKEY" It has been known that flora researches are one of the most important researches of the natural resources. Every period and discipline, with their own knowledge and technology, have made effort for collecting, chaining, conserving and managing of the valuable samples obtained and the information of them. Today, this effort has included computers, software, databases, digital cameras, GPS systems and the Internet. In this study, it is aimed to record the localities of main sources belonging to plant taxa showing natural distribution in Flora of Turkey to a database and to manage and present this information through web based geographic information system services. Besides the information of more than 100,000 localities belonging to 11,707 taxa, there is no possibility to record all the distribution areas of these taxa in a classical physical map. In this context, our study is the first digital phytogeography map of Turkey which is completed and can be displayed on a numerical physical map of Flora of Turkey plants.
