Abstract (EN)
The wastes resulting from the activities of the health institutions and organizations which provide health services are considered as medical waste. This study examines the process from the formation, collection, storage, transportation and disposal of medical wastes. When wastes are examined in terms of occupational safety, it is seen that they have negative effects on environment and human health. In this study, a sample risk analysis was conducted for the hospital environment and risks related to medical wastes were determined according to L Type (5 X 5) Risk Analysis Matrix. As a result, it is stated that exposure to medical wastes is mostly seen in health workers. The risks generated by the wastes can be eliminated by selecting the appropriate disposal method for the type of waste.
