The establishment of technology historiography in Turkey

This study deals with the articles of newspapers, magazines and books that contain the history of industry and technology produced in our country in the middle of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century. In this thesis, which we centered between 1851 and 1928, we tried to indicate the pre-modern state of the Ottoman Empire and the processes of its encounter with modern technology and to understand their differences. While doing this, we tried to make a breakdown of the written material produced with the events and processes experienced in a periodization according to the dates of the transition from the classical period to the modern period and important international exhibitions. While doing this, we aimed to reflect the thoughts of the Ottoman intellectuals and also to show the adventure of the history of technology in the historical process from the Ottoman society to the Republic of Turkey.
