Abstract (EN)

It is a widely known fact that movies are the representations of the past, present and future. During the preparation of these representations, nothing is used by coincidence. All the visual elements used in the narration of a movie are placed subjectively passing through the scriptwriter's, director's, producer's and even the actor's or actress' conception of the world. However, except for the science-fiction or fantastic movies, all the visual elements have to have an accordance with the history mentioned in the narration and this is the only thing that is objective in a movie. This is the reason why all the movies can not represent any items contrary to the cultural structure and technology of the mentioned time. It is necessary for a movie to represent the daily life items which belong to the period referred in the narration. Therefore, the technological items used in the narration can also be used as the clues to define the referred historical period and the living conditions then. In this direction, this study aims to figure out how television, which has been a part of daily life in Turkey since 1970's, is represented in cinema. Within the scope of this study, in a chronological order, the movies "Canım Kardeşim (1973)", "Vizontele Tuuba (2004)", "Masumiyet (1997)" and "Kanal-i-zasyon (2009)" are analysed to figure out how television has taken a part in social life during the every passing year since 1970's and how it has been represented in cinema in the changing periods.
