Abstract (EN)

We know that linguistic units which can be used seperately and have independent meanings are called free/main morphemes while the ones that can't be used seperately and don't have independent meanings, in a word can't stand alone but can only work as a functional element are called bound morphemes. While main morphemes form the lexicon of a language, bound morphemes form the grammar. The very first written texts dating back to the end of the 7th century, Turkish language owns declensional elements, prepositions and auxiliary verbs as bound morphemes. However, they have been exposed to various changes such as phonological, morphological and/or semantical in the last 14 centuries -from 7th to 21st- and even some improvements are observed in their functions such as enlargements or contractions. In this study, whereafter the declension subject is discussed, we made a literature review of each morpheme then consequently identified their function(s), examined their historical processes from the 7th century to present and finally exemplified them through literary texts.
