Abstract (EN)
In this work, happiness and sadness signs? semantic structures have beenanalyzed in Turkish. Therefore Turkish Dictionary by Türk Dil Kurumu and IdiomDictionary that had been prepared by Ömer Asım AKSOY, have been observed andhappiness and sadness signs have been determined. To make an analysis on theirmeanings, their usage have been taken into consideration in context in 35 novels.In addition to this, happiness and sadness signs? have been analyzedaccording to their metaphoric and metonymic structures and so, the process ofnaming emotion concepts have been determined.In Turkish vocabulary, 1415 happiness and sadness signs have been gathered.Happiness signs are 437 and sadness signs are 978. In vocabulary, sadness signs aremore than happiness signs. Sadness signs? excess draw attention at their frequency ofusage in observed novels.On naming emotion concepts, Turkish people treat like other people in world.This case appears in metaphoric and metonymic structures of happiness and sadnesssigns.
