The sociocultural effects on public national television's programs, broadcasting in Turkey, related to matrimony (With example of rural in Elazığ)

Understanding the influence of the marriage computation programs andespecially television, the most important mass communications, on the rural area ofElazığ is the aim of this project.Actually these kinds of marriage programs borned in the USA Televisions thensome of media companies rearranged and began to broadcast in Turkey as well indifferent formats. These television programs purpose entertainment and contest. Inthe course time these programs reached high rating levels.In this project we explore the influence of the contests and television on therural area of Elazığ. In this context, we try to find an answer for the ?even if thesetelevision programs are really harmful or not ?? question. We have applied fieldresearch to support our thesis statement.Field research (survey) were applied totaly 1008 individuals whose gender,education levels, ages and culturel situation are different, our sample areas areHankendi, Yazıkonak, Akçakiraz, Yurtbaşı, Mollakendi and Pirinçci, Hıdırbaba, Hal, Koruk, Muratçık,Altınkuşak, Alpagut, Cip, Kaplıkaya, Gümüşbağlar, Gözebaşı, Kuyulu, Yenice, Sedeftepe, Hoş, Kıraç,Güzelyalı, Karşıbağ, Çağlar, Karasaz, Elmapınar, Koçkale vilages, Harput district, Toraman and Ebilwhere are the rural of Elazığ. Generally means of subsistences of the samplefieldsarea are agriculture and stockbreeding. We have 8 survey takers for the fieldreasearch and they have carried out the survey face to face for all participator. It hastaken nearly 45 days in the dates of 1st May to 15th June 2006. Survey contains 57questions and 13 of these are open ended. The survey of the questions includedemographical, the televisional habits and concerned with marriage contestprograms datas.During progress of the project all researchs have been done due toacademical procedures. The required theorems and hypothesis (masscomminication, comminication models, television, marriage contest programs…) areconsulted step by step in a literaturel process. Finally all results are SPSS compiledwith (statistic program, version 11,0) then collected as tabulated results and alsographical datas in the 7th part of the thesis. In conclusion comformance of the dataswith the hypothesis that we have suggested before, are discussed even if they verifyour hypothesis or not as well. Results show that our approach is certainly correctand it overlap; with the literature. So we can easily say that marriage programs affectthe individuals who live in the Elazığ rural.Key Words: Culture, Family, Marriage, Communication, Television.
