Abstract (EN)
Recently, ageing has been at the center of many studies in the literature of social sciences. Ageing is a process that causes biological and physical alteration on living being and this process continues to the time of death. The weakness has been seen as mentally and physically on individuals basic skills within their old ages. Thereby, this weakness can make them sick easily and because of this reason old people demands health services much more than any other age groups. In this thesis, the relationship between old dependency ratio and government health expenditures has been researched on provincial basis in Turkey. The panel data analysis has been chosen and different econometric models have been analyzed by using System GMM. The results from empirical analysis in thesis support the empirical findings in literatüre that is a positive relationship between old dependency ratio and government health expenditures. Also, thesis has researched the existence of the political-economic factors which has not been analyzed much in literature to determine government health expenditures, however the results has shown that there is not much any evidence for political-economic factors in this thesis.
