Microfinans system and case of bursa as a model for local development in Turkey

In recent years, local development approach is increasingly take place of central planning approach in developing countries that solving their specific problems. In the meantime, macro economic issues such as poverty has entered into the study area of local government institutions and non-governmental organizations, not only the state's central institutions.Turkey Grameen Microcredit Programme which is a non-governmental organizations, has been struggled with poverty within the framework of local development. This struggle is carried out with giving microcredit women which is the poorest of the poor. The aim of this study is to examine Grameen Microcredit Programme activities in Bursa to effect of upon the social status of women and poverty.In our research has been used mixed methods which are used a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. Our study sample has been consisted of women is using the micro-credit is Grameen system's target audience. The oldest four hundred women in Bursa were obtained through questionnaires. Women's individual, familial, and economic profiles have been removed through questionnaires. The data obtained from questionnaires constitute our study?s quantitative portion. In-depth interviews with eleven women have led to more detailed findings from women's life stories up to their ideas of microcredit and poverty. In-depth interviews constitute our study?s quanlitative portion. When data obtained were evaluated, almost all the family income of women who benefited from microcredit services, "somewhat" or "very" has increased. Women ?rarely? or ?never? have difficulty back the loan payments. The most important reason for preference Microcredit is microfinance system does not apply to criminal procedures and a lack of high-interest. So %85 of women want to use again is microcredit.
