Abstract (EN)

The construction sector has large energy consumption. Therefore, the importance of the performance in construction processes has increased. Performance-based design includes an open and collaborative construction process involving architects, advisors and engineers from the beginning of the project. These new definitions affected the traditional construction process and led to the development of the integrated design system. Integrated design is a method that enables high-performance buildings to perform better in terms of energy, economy and environmental performance. High-performance buildings are to consider, evaluate and correctly apply the issues of cost, quality of life, flexibility, efficiency, environmental impact, manufacturability, creativity with building systems throughout the building life cycle, with an integrated design approach. In this thesis, High Performance Building Design Practice in Turkish construction industry has been examined. It is aimed to reveal the current understanding of high-performance buildings in Turkey by making interviews with architecture and engineering offices that have designed large-scale buildings in Turkey and have rich application practices. In addition to the interviews, the projects of the Istanbul International Finance Center Ziraat Bank Towers and Ankara Sincan Land Registry and Cadastre General Directorate, which were developed with an integrated design approach, were examined the application processes of high-performance buildings in Turkey. As a result, it has been seen that high performance buildings can be obtained by examining the process analyses of Ziraat Bank Twin Towers which is an international consortium and the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre Service Building which is a state-supported public. It has been seen that if the design system integrated with the specifications is determined from the beginning of the project process, the process will be positive in terms of both architects, engineers and the performance of the building. It has been concluded that people should not become a party to counter-expertise or institutions by changing their perspectives and focusing on their individual responsibilities, and that if there are problems encountered, they should be taken into account both individually and publicly.
