Abstract (EN)

Paeonia mascula L. (Mill.) subsp. Mascula was collected from Osmaniye-Amanos, Afyon-Derecine, Konya-Doğanhisar and Çanakkale-Tombaklık. The antioxidant activity of methanol extracts of the root parts of the plants was investigated spectroscopically and their phytochemical contents were investigated by HPLC-DAD. The spectroscopic total phenolic content of the methanolic root extracts was determined as 1077,0 mg GAE /100g root in Çanakkale sample, which was the highest. The iron (III) reducing antioxidant activity (FRAP) of this extract was also found to be the highest at 2121,7 mg TE /100g root. On the other hand, the lowest SC50 value in terms of DPPH radical scavenging activity was 255,9 μg/mL in the Afyon sample. It was determined that the main components of methanolic root extracts determined by HPLC-DAD were paeoflorin, albiflorin, benzoylmudanpioside and 2,4,6-Trihydroxy-1-methyl benzoate derivative components.
