Abstract (EN)
Two dimensional graphics rendering of browsers running on embedded system such as televisions and set-top-boxes were investigated in the scope of this thesis. A virtual document object model was developed according to the needs of user interface applications. This model is an alternative of the standard document object model. The software library which was developed to render the virtual document object model has different rendering backend support. Several test cases and test applications were developed for this software library. These test cases and test applications were run on different available browsers to benchmark the rendering methodologies. The software library can render by accessing directly to the graphics programming unit by using WebGL API as well as using the standard Canvas object and document object model. As a result of this thesis, these rendering methodologies were compared against each other and advantages/disadvantages of each methodology was indicated.
