Abstract (EN)

Many countries have their own wind standards. These standards have an active role in building design. Many scientific researches and experiments about standards have been made and the results have been standardized for use in buildings. However, in case of multiple buildings being together, the calculations regarding the wind loads that may occur due to their interaction with each other are still not adequately covered in the standards In this study, the effect of positioning on wind loads and building design in multi-storey buildings located close to each other is investigated. In the study, triangular and sequential buildings are examined as two different positioning styles. In this context, first of all, a considered steel building is dimensioned individually for three different heights (44 m, 72 m and 100 m). Three different designs were made by using TS 498, EN 1991-1-4 and digital wind tunnel to calculate the wind loads of the single building. RWIND program was used for digital wind tunnel calculations. Subsequently, the same building was redesigned as a rear one of triangular and sequential located multiple buildings. In this multiplex design, wind loads were determined by digital wind tunnel calculation in order to see the interaction between the buildings. At this stage, the most unfavorable building spacings to maximize wind effects for both triangular positioning and sequential positioning were also investigated. Wind loads and building structural design results calculated as a result of multiple positioning were compared with the results of individually designed buildings. As a result of this comparison, significant increases in wind loads and building design were obtained in rear one of both triangular and sequential positioned buildings compared to the single building. Keywords: Digital wind tunnel, TS 498, EN 1991-1-4, Multi-storey building, Wind load
