Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT COMPARISON OF SOMATOTYPE AND RESPİRATORY FUNCTION PARAMETERS BETWEEN KITE SURFERS AND NON-KITE SURFERS (SEDENTARIES) Gürsoy Y.C. Aydın Adnan Menderes University, Health Sciences Institute, Department of Movement and Training Sciences, Master's Thesis, Aydın 2024 Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the somatotype characteristics and some respiratory functions of kitesurfers and non-kitesurfers (sedentarians) and to determine to what extent the differences occur by comparing these characteristics with each other. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted on a group of people (n=14 men)- (n=14 women) aged 20-35 who have been kitesurfing for a long time and who have the necessary knowledge and experience in this field, operating in Akyaka-Gökova, Muğla province. A total of (n = 28) people, and for sedentary people, the age range of 20-35 (n = 14 men) and (n = 14 women) who do not do any physical activity throughout their lives and live in the same campus (n = 14 women) 56 people participated in this study voluntarily. Findings: There was a statistically significant difference in somatotype characteristics of women kitesurfing (p<0.05) in terms of pre-test and post-test values (endomorph, mesomorph, ectomorph). There was no difference between respiratory functions (p>0.05). A significant difference was found between the somatotype characteristics of men (p<0.05). A significant difference was found between the somatotype characteristics of men (p<0.05). No difference was detected in terms of respiratory functions (p>0.05). Respiratory functions of men and women (FEV1, FVC, MVV, VC) pre-test and post-test values were found in favor of men in favor of men. (p<0,05). Conclusion: There was a difference between the pre-test and post-test values of the characteristics of women and men (endomorph, mesomorph, ectomorph). A statistically significant difference was found between the pre-test and post-test values of men and women in terms of respiratory functions (FEV1, FVC, MVV, VC) in favor of men.
