Ülker Köksal's semiotical analysis of children's theatres and activity suggestions for Turkish lessons

Theater is a tool for physically expressing and expressing people's feelings and thoughts outside of literary indicators. Although this genre is an understudied area in children's literature, theater and drama practices are an important structure that can be used to entertain children and make them think. In this study, Ülker Köksal's children's theater plays were examined in terms of semiotic analysis and their function in Turkish education. The materials analyzed in the study consist of award-winning children's theater plays by Ülker Köksal. Document analysis and descriptive analysis, which are qualitative research methods, were used to examine children's theaters. The author's theater texts are A.J. It was analyzed using the semiotic method of Greimas. Based on the concept of child, the study focuses on children's theater and its place in education. The literary solution of theater and how this analysis will appear in the activity design in the production workshops in the Turkish curriculum are discussed. The history, types, elements, analysis and activity suggestions of children's theater were emphasized. Information about the analyzed games is included. In another part of the study, the concept of semiotics, the elements that make up the play through the actants scheme and the semiotic quadrilateral are included, and also the function of children's theater in terms of Turkish lessons is organized in terms of learning outcomes and methods, and activity suggestions are made on how it can be implemented in production workshops. The examined children's theaters were evaluated according to TDÖP (2024). Based on the analyzed plays of Ülker Köksal, codes were made and categorized into themes in the Turkish curriculum. It was concluded that they have appropriate qualifications for application in the production workshop and they are presented as a recommendation.
