Human rights obligations of municipalities in the context of national and international law

As the administrative units closest to individuals, municipalities make decisions that impact human rights and provide various services. While the primary responsibility for the protection of human rights lies with the central administration, the human rights obligations of municipalities arising from national and international law should not be overlooked. When a violation of rights occurs in the provision of municipal services, a human rights-based legal responsibility comes into play. This study will offer a perspective from the legal field on the reflection of human rights law at the local level and the incorporation of local issues into human rights law.
