International trade in services and Turkey

Efforts to liberalize world trade, which emerged after World War II, are still continuing rapidly today. Liberalization of global trade has supported the increase in trade by eliminating the barriers to trade in goods and services. The place and importance of goods in global trade will never diminish, but the figures and incidents show us that trade in services is on the increasing curve. In this regard, it is seen that the use of services in the production stage of the manufactured products is becoming widespread with the information technologies that are progressing in particular. When we look at the services sector, the share of service trade in global trade increases each year with the developments that eliminate the necessity of making production and consumption in the same place. With the removal of the barriers to trade in the world, the share of the services sector in the gross national product of the countries is gaining more importance in terms of the functioning of national and global economies with the potential of creating employment and facilitating the role of all economic activities. While the share of today's developed countries in gross national product has exceeded 70%, this ratio is between 60 +/- 5% for developing countries. Especially with the globalization experienced in the last 30 years, the development of multinational companies and the advances in information technologies, the trade of services in the globalized world has also increased rapidly. With the goal of liberalization of trade in this study on trade in services in line with developments in the world that Turkey will be judged on what position on the trade in services.
