Abstract (EN)
This research was conducted to present a bibliometric analysis of articles on Educational Technology published in the field of Education / Educational Research in the Web of Science Core database between 2000 and 2019. In this context, a bibliometric analysis of the articles on educational technology published between 2000-2019 was conducted. Document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in this study. As a result of the preliminary examination, 96 most used themes in the field of educational technology were reached. These themes are grouped under 5 main headings. These titles; Application, Design and Environments, Measurement and Evaluation, Pedagogy and Teaching and Learning. Then, with the help of 96 themes under these 5 main headings, the articles in the Web of Science core database between 2000-2019 were searched. As a result of the findings obtained, bibliometric analyses of a total of 25 themes were performed for the 5 theme findings with the highest number of articles under each main heading. During these analyzes, the distribution of articles by years for each theme, the most used concepts with the theme, citation analysis in the context of the journal and citation analysis in the context of the country were conducted. VOSViewer version 1.6.13 developed by Nees Jan van Eck and Ludo Waltman (2019) and MS Excel were used for analysis. As a result of the bibliometric analysis, when we look at the distribution of articles published in the field of educational technology in Web of Science in the last 20 years, it is seen that 60 themes have increased. These increasing themes seem to be generally related to themes related to developments in science and technology. These can be exemplified as new learning tools (AR, simulation, MOOC, VR, social media) with the effect of technology. Likewise, there are also increases in pedagogical methods emerging within the framework of technological developments. Since measurement and evaluation and teaching and learning methods are constantly used in the field of education, the number of articles on themes under these main headings has increased over time. Despite the increasing themes, the themes that did not show any orientation (the number of publications were variable) were reached in the 20-year period. The number of themes varying by years in terms of article distribution was found to be 32. These are generally accepted topics that maintain their existence in the field of education. However, decreasing themes over the years have been achieved in the 20-year period. The number of themes that tend to decrease over the years in terms of article distribution was found to be 4. The most used concept with each theme is the theme itself. However, "higher education", "evaluation", "mobile learning", "laboratory instruction", "game-based learning", "online learning", "interactive learning", "social media", "distance learning", "serious games" are the most mentioned concepts. However, the concepts of "Second Life", "virtual reality", "teacher education", "professional learning communities", "communities of practice" and "professional development" are popular topics. Finally, "peer feedback", "learning outcomes", "reading comprehension" and "language learning strategies" are the most common issues. In the journals that publish and exchange citations within the framework of these themes, the names of the journals that publish the most in the field of educational technology were found. In the citation analysis findings in the context of the country, it was by far the leader in terms of the number of articles of US origin and the number of citations. Along with the WoS database, it can scan other databases such as Scopus, Google Scholar or ERIC and make international comparisons. It is recommended that researchers who will study in the future should work on the concepts and keywords with high number of journals, citations and articles in leading positions. Countries cited reasons for Turkey to take part in back in the ranking is also recommended as a subject of study.
