Students of a private foundation university formed the universe of research between January and February 2021 in Istanbul (N=12184). The sample was created by students who were chosen by the unlikely sampling method from these students (n=581). According to the results, we found that social media addiction has a significant effect on social appearance anxiety, and there is also a very weak relationship between social media addiction and self-esteem of university students. In addition, among the analysis made according to demographic variables, we found that the levels of social media addiction and social appearance anxiety were higher among women and students in the 18-22 age group. Additionally, we found that social media addiction and social anxiety levels are higher for students using social media longer. Finally, we found that students' self-esteem level decreases depending on the duration of social media use. We argue that these results might play an important role in guiding the measures need to be taken in order to prevent the negative affects of social medie addiction among university students. Key Words: Social Media Use, Social Appereance Anxiety, Self Esteem.
