Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine whether the depression levels of undergraduate and postgraduate students have differed regarding their gender roles and the level of cognitive flexibility. By basing on the findings in the literature, this study analyzed the relationship between the undergraduate and postgraduate students' depression levels and the effects of their gender roles and the level of cognitive flexibility on it. There were 383 participants of the research which was consisted of 96 men and 287 women undergraduates and postgraduates. The average of their ages is 22,42 (sd:3,14). For measuring the variables, this study benefited from the Bem Sex Role Inventory, Cognitive Flexibility Inventory and Beck Depression Inventory. While there was not a significant difference between gender roles and depression levels, this study detected a considerable difference between cognitive flexibility and depression levels. There is a negative correlation between cognitive flexibility and depression levels. Besides, this study determined a significant difference between gender roles and cognitive flexibility levels. When the individual's gender roles change, there is no difference in their depression levels. However, the depression level reduces when cognitive flexibility increases. Besides, the cognitive flexibility levels of the individuals show differences with respect to their gender roles.
